Charles might never have found his way back out, were it not for his raven.

A caw had made him draw his head back from the man’s chest, where he was biting and sucking bruises into the skin. That shirt had been the first to go, and Charles had had no compunction about digging his armored fingers into the wound on the man’s ribs – listening for a choked-off scream: now you know how it feels, you bastard –

“You like this?” he had panted, watching goosebumps race over the man’s arms. Perhaps from how Charles’ hot breath felt against the slick of saliva he had left as he worked his way down … “You must like this. Or you’d tell me what’s in the bunker and I would stop.”

Another choked sound – he looked up. The man had brought a hand to his mouth; he was biting down on it, eyes squeezed shut.

And … was that …

For a moment, he wasn’t sure he saw it. The candlelight had been steadily dimming for some time. But … Charles felt his jaw sag. There were tears tracking down the man’s face. Leaving rust-colored traces from where they ran over dried blood, as they wended their way down, down …

This. Is. Wrong.

The shout from his mind left him dazed, ears ringing – no … it was his raven. Calling out for him.

"Nine, Eleven, Ten" [Chapter 16] by Subtilior

Yep, Erik and Charles, from X-Men: First Class. In the fanfic "Nine, Eleven, Ten" by Subtilior.

Confused? So, go read, because this fanfic is AMAZING. Nothing is what it seems. I can't stop recommending it! :) Slow building, rich dystopic world, amazing use of Charles' powers. This fanfic has given me the feelings! It's one of the three best fanfics I've read in 15 years (and that's LOTS of fanfics :P)

Started this pic again, like the last one, in B&W to work on values first. I think it has been easier this way because illumination here has been a pain so, having my mind centered only on light/shades (and not on colour) made it a bit easier.

And this time I knew when I first applied the colours it would be like I threw up a rainbow. But, no problem knowing I could fix that later, lol!

Illumination here was a bit tricky because the lights are all around and from below, and there is stuff blocking, so I think it had been a nice experience. Thankfully I only had to fix on orange tones.

Also, making broken mirrors have been fun. I liked the result (I didn't know how to do it at first >.<). Used some brushes to make the slashes because I can't do random stuff (stains, broken things...) for my life! D:

Drawn almost entirely on PS (like... 40-50 h?). Except the general pose which was a pencil sketch. Erik has been a HELL to draw, both because the pained expression and the pose >.< (And thanks to ~roaming-dragon who checked on anatomy ;))

Hope you like, anyway!
