The Serpent's Court

[...] That night we were taken to a large dining room to dine with the rest of the Serpent Society Council. If I thought about it it was a bit surrealist: 'I'm going to dine with the Serpent Society's Council in order to collaborate with them'. As of lately I'm going into odd things...

The Council was composed of five members. The one with higher rank was a man of fifty-something years, Lord Haleth, and was one of the Regent Houses noblemen. He was the spokesman generally talking. Lord Menes represented the only eight Tattooed People who remained alive, counting Dreiden and himself. Lord Tyber, a stiffed man who still wasn't forty years old, represented the noblemen among the Regent Houses in Narsith. Lord Davos, the unpleasant man, was the one in charge of the spies network and mercenaries. And the last one, Lord Dreiden, representing the Knights of the Serpent.

Ok, wait a bit, situation was becoming more and more funny: 'I'm going to dine with the Serpent Society's Council in order to collaborate with them
and one of their members is my husband Dreiden. Ok, Lord Dreiden. Now it was perfectly accurate and surrealist. He did had told me he had an important position because he was well known, but I didn't imagine this... [...]

La Corte de las Serpientes

Don't know why, but the tittle fits better in Spanish ^^;

Dreiden and Shaliara, my character at Cyrene's RPG campaign (as if you didn't know yet... :ohnoes: ). If eight years ago (real time) somebody would have told Shaliara that she will be married to Dreiden and that he would be at the council of the Serpent Society she would have laughed... a lot, really. Lol, and that... :sarcasm:

I was asked by my boyfriend about drawing some new outfit that looked ok with the new place I was going to be, that is, Narsith, a kind of decadent city-state, more like Ancient Rome, with slaves and the such. And where the Serpent Society headquarters were (with yuan-ti misteriously gone, one of the things to investigate).

I have been reading a lot of Conan comics lately ( ), so I got influenced *a bit* by the Conan-king thing, so I started drawing this who would act as my new portrait while designing a better outfit. Was fun to do  When I showed it to my boyfriend he told me I really got the mood he pretended :w00t:

I'm not that good into design so I took the idea of her dress of Alphonse Mucha's girls and portraits, as I love the way he draws. If you don't know who he is... go and google it now! What are you waiting for? :|

If you see the sketch you can see I corrected her right eye, it was a bit too far of her nose :giggle: happens me a lot that mistake, I'm trying to get it right in the pencil sketch now

For once I did it everything on Opencanvas, like always... and then turned to Photoshop and gave lots of touches, just to test. Used textures, brushes and effects on layers. A lot, just to try them. Even toned again with new brushes to give shadows a kind of texture-like.

Got fire more or less better than the last time for it :D Not very satisfied with light though  But I specially like how her dress and details of his armor turned out :)

Below you can see the list of credits for textures and brushes I used. Reference for bodies: me in front of a mirror (I am getting used to it of lately... :giggle:)

oh wow...I was wondering if you were going to color that awesome sketch. I certainly didn't expect it so fast! haha

LOVE IT! I think this is my favorite piece of yours. For some reason, it reminds me of Melisandre and Stannis from George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series.

Yep, I uploaded the sketch while I was working on the comment of the colour one, I always do that way, you just got caught in the middle of the process :D I was translating the journal to English (crappy translation but I was sleepy...).

Glad you liked best then! I love to hear about the Melisandre and Stannis thing because my boyfriend also told me my role in the Serpent Society (or some places that I went to) was similar to the one Melisandre has :D I got a similar mood to then, glad to hear that! :D

true true, I should have noticed the pattern by now, huh? Shame on me. Ah I read it fine, no worries! :D

Seriously? Too cool! haha I think it was the woman's look, especially the red and the man's position in the chair. I want to say that is similar to what he was on the cover of book 3 (think it was book 3...). Of course, I've got the official artbook, so it could have been a scene in there. Either way, I always liked Melisandre. I love the strong female characters! hehe Daenerys, Asha, Melis...they kick ass! :w00t:
